What is Reiki?

Reiki - pronounced; 'Ray - Kee' - can be translated as: universal, life-force energy. Rei; meaning 'sacred' and 'Ki'; meaning the 'life-force energy'.
Reiki activates the natural healing processes of the body and helps restore physical and emotional well-being.

Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist priest, founded the healing system 'Usui Reiki Ryoho', after discovering how to access, and use, ancient natural energy healing.

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique;
a holistic system for balancing, harmonising and healing all aspects of the person, working on all levels; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Reiki is a complimentary therapy that works well with other complimentary and alternative therapies.
It can also be used alongside conventional medicine.

My name is Carol Jamieson and I am
a certified Usui Reiki Practitioner.

Although originally from Aberdeenshire, I have now lived in Angus for 30 years.
I trained as a nurse and qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and worked as a Staff Nurse for several years before leaving nursing to start a family.

Since then, I have had a continued interest in health and wellbeing and natural health and complimentary therapies.
I received my first degree attunement in Reiki in November 2014 and received my second degree attunement in July 2015.

What can you expect during a Reiki treatment?

Reiki can be given with the receiver either lying down or seated. The treatment (unless you prefer to be seated) will be given on a treatment table and the only thing you will need to remove is your shoes.

The Reiki Practitioner channels the Reiki energy, facilitating the flow of energy from their hands, to the receiver. Hands are placed lightly in a sequence of positions on the body, or slightly above. Reiki is non-intrusive. Reiki is not massage.

Benefits

Treatments last for around an hour and most individuals feel very relaxed during and after the treatment.
Reiki is safe and gentle, yet can have profound effects, with the experience being unique to each person.
